the Republic of Indonesia, is
identic with the various
races. Regarding to the moment, Panitia Hari Besar Nasional (PHBN; Committee for the National Great Day) held the race
of panjat pinang
at the Agritech, 98th Panglima Sudirman Street, Saturday (21/8).
PHBN Section of Races, Mr. Sinal Abidin said the race would involve all villages throughout the City of Batu. There are 24 areca tree used in the race. "The amount is appropriate number of villages in this town," said Mr. Sinal who is also the chief official of Public Relations Division in the Local Government, Monday (18/8).
As the prizes, there are washing machine, refrigerator and other items, which are its price could reach tens of millions of rupiah. Participants can be the representatives of villages.
In the middle of the race sequence, there will be entertainments of Malay orchestra. There would be OM Palapa from Surabaya and several local singers.

The race of panjat pinang is a race of climbing skills and teamwork. Each team consists of 5 people. They compete one another going up to the top and getting the prizes placed on the top of the areca tree. (red)
